Porto Rotondo is a renowned tourist destination located 18 km from Olbia. It sits on the promontory of Monte Ladu and Punta Volpe and separates the Gulf of Cugnana from the Gulf of Marinella. Its marina is one of the most important landmarks in the Mediterranean. Must-see attractions include the distinctive amphitheater built entirely of granite; the Church of San Lorenzo, which houses evocative wood carvings by Mario Ceroli; the beautiful Piazzetta San Marco, designed by Andrea Cascella; the dock; the Casbah; and the other small squares. The whole place is somewhat reminiscent of Venice, partly because Porto Rotondo was built in 1967 by the Venetian Donà delle Rose family.
