Vignola Beach, Gallura, Sardinia

The beautiful beach of Vignola is located in the resort of Vignola Mare in Aglientu, along the stretch of coast of northern Gallura, where you will find enchanting, often lesser-known beaches and striking granite formations in unique and unusual shapes that add an extra touch of charm to this wild and unspoilt landscape. This long sandy beach, located east of Punta di Li Francesi, is divided into two distinct beaches: Rena Bedda – the wider beach – and La Turra, nestled close to the Aragonese tower that dominates the promontory enclosing the Bay of Vignola. The beach of fine, greyish sand is adorned along the shoreline with small, rounded, multi-coloured pebbles (depending on the mineral content) smoothed by the sea. The deep, crystal-clear waters boast an extraordinary blue-green color. Rarely crowded, it is generally very clean, and the surrounding nature is wild and untouched. The seabed, spectacular in places, features a rich variety of marine flora and fauna, making it highly popular with divers, snorkelers, and fishing enthusiasts alike. On windy days, the beach is also a popular spot for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and sailing enthusiasts. How to get there: From Santa Teresa di Gallura, take the SP 90 towards Castelsardo. After about 19 km, turn right for Vignola (the junction is well signposted). Continue for another 700 metres until you reach the car park right next to the beach. Facilities: disabled access, spacious parking, parasol and sunbed rental, pedal boat and watercraft hire, diving center, motorhome/camper area, campsites, bars, hotels, restaurants, and all the services of the resort. Interesting Facts: Near Vignola beach, you can visit significant historical landmarks, such as the 16th-century Aragonese tower – "La Turra" – which is reachable via a short walk. Continuing along the coastal path, you will come across the small, beautifully isolated country church of San Silverio, the patron saint of fishermen and sailors. In June, this saint is celebrated with a traditional country festival where visitors can taste authentic Sardinian dishes. Other nearby beaches: Chischinagghju, highly popular with surfers, and Riu di Li Saldi.
